Artist's Biography

Hi!  Let me introduce myself.  My name is Bob Fantone.  I started my musical adventure when I was twelve years old.  While shopping in downtown Long Beach, California, my mother and I stopped in front of a music store.  There, in the window, was a 12 bass accordion.  This instantly brought me back to memories of my grandparents' living room, where I first heard an accordion on their old upright radio-phonograph player.  We proceeded to walk into the music store where my mother signed me up for accordion lessons.

From my first lesson, I was totally committed and enjoyed every aspect of my music.  My joy for music saw me through seven years of formal lessons.

Some of my musical and life time accomplishments are:

    - The accordion band I was in, "The Mello Accordions," participated in a national competition in Chicago.  We tied for first place with our rendition of "Night on Bald Mountain" by Moussorgsky.

    - Won 3rd Place in senior division at the "Western Accordion Festival." I played Fantasy Impromptu by Chopin.

    - Joined the Long Beach City College Jazz Band and took harmony courses.

    - Married my wonderful wife, Virginia.  (I met her at the Music Center Accordion School where I studied.)

    - Present - Raised two great sons and two beautiful daughters.
